Once again our local artists have been extremely generous with their support of Mosaic and have produced some wonderful works for the 2008 Auction. View the images below!

A senior figure in the establishment of contemporary Maori art, Sandy is the principal tutor at Toimairangi Contemporary Maori art school in Hastings.

Eddie is a survivor of mental illness and his work draws its strength from his experiences of this process. He work has now been in a number of exhibitions in Hawke's Bay and he is currently working towards a new show at Mosaic Gallery.

Maggie has now held several exhibitions at Mosaic and also exhibited her work at other venues in Hawke's Bay. Recently Maggie has been working on a collective exhibition for Matariki with the Mosaic Toi Maori group.

Nicole has exhibited her printmaking widely in New Zealand, Australia, America and Canada with over 50 solo and group shows, Arts projects and curated exhibitions to her credit. since joineing the EIT Visual arts department she has been a driving force in the resurgent interest in printmaking in Hawke's Bay. Her work features an interest in feminist ideaas, consumerism and new print technologies.

Paul is a fine furniture maker in the tradition of James Krenov , designing and constructing individual peices from his Hastings workshop. This piece is inspired by Japanese design and is entirely constructed from quality timbers, replacing the original box!

Joleen has been producing artworks at Mosaic for the last seven years, her large work was selected in the 2006 Hawke's Bay Review, and was also featured in this year's Womens' Art Calander from the Hastings Womens Centre

Joleen's work features a combination of anxious and innocent imagery that makes it intriguing and appealing. Her work has attracted interesrt during the last year from overseas collectors of Outsider Art

Linda has exhibited widely throughout New Zealand. Her most recent solo exhibition was "Insulate" held at Thermostat, Palerston North. She also won the award for sculpture in 2005, and the supreme award at the 2007 Hawke's Bay Review. She recentlywas selected to produce a large scale scupltural work for Sculture on the Shore in Auckland.

Lime Kuri (0il)

This years wine box continues to focus on the Tutaekuri River, a river that historically commemorates the preparation and cooking of hundred 'kuri' or 'dogs' to feed the hungry guests of local chief, Hikuwera II. The wine box has been painted to reflect the Tutaekuri River conforming to modern trends to become a 'Lime Kuri', as a recently installed white lime sand path trails along its riverbank. Hence the title of the wine box is, "Lime Kuri".

An artist with wide ranging talents and a creative pedegree linking back to BLERTA days, a recent icon in his work is the bird. Is it avisitor / messenger or a metaphor for the artist? Who knows?

Terstappen's inventive and quirky sculptures have been installed as commissions in many parts of Hawke's Bay and New Zealand.

His work is also held in many private collections throughout New Zealand. He has worked collaboratively on a number of large commissions with artists such as William Jameson and Jacob Scott, on such projects as the re-furbishment of the Hawke's Bay Opera House. Connected with the Cicada workshops, Ricks profile as a sculptor is growing steadily.
