20th June 2007

Our 2007 Auction was an awesome success! Raising nearly $20,000, it surpassed all our expectations and nearly doubled what we raised in our 2006 Wine Box Auction.

A special thanks to all the artists who have so generously donated their work to us, and also to our sponsor Riverside Wines.

Lot 5. Liz Earth

Its like the Leonard Cohen song, one of my favorites, - "I tried to make the piece sing and I think it does"

Liz's multi media installations in the Hastings CBD are well known, as are her public sculptures at Hawke's Bay events. She has exhibited her paintings, ceramics, drawings and photography in many exhibitions throughout New Zealand.

This work carries on her successful theme of nests and nesting, most recently in a humorous way combining the theme with everyday home materials and contexts.

Lot 20. Jo Blogg

"When a person is inclined to stick thousands of little things to other much bigger things, is it any wonder that a medicinal glass or two of wine is in order?"

Jo has been producing innovative sculptural work, paintings and prints for a number of years and exhibiting in solo and group shows. Her work was most recently selected in the 2006 Norsewear Award. An inventive sculptor and painter whose work combines interesting ideas, innovative uses of materials and a fastidious approach to detail.
