My name is Maggie and I live in Hastings. I was born in Scotland and in 1974 my family and I emigrated to New Zealand. My inspiration comes from everyday things, grandchildren, animals, people around me, places I have visited and sometimes its just what I have imagined a place may look like. The pain level I am feeling on the day can influence my art. Some days are better than others. As a child I never did any form of art it was only after my injury and learning to cope with life, coming to terms with the fact that I was not going to be able to do the things I did before, that motivated me to do some drawing, often taking going to the library for more information on how to paint and draw. My interests grew from there and I was introduced to Mosaic. I found that I loved to draw people, as faces tell lot of stories about the person. When I'm working on my art I loose myself in what I am doing and sometimes I can be oblivious to what is going on around me. I love it at Mosaic as the tutors encourage and help motivate you.I also enjoy looking at other artists work and talking to them because they help to give ideas and learn giving you create and different ways of doing your art.
