I am a late bloomer in the art department. Art was taught more as a hobby than a serious subject at school with only commercial art being offered as a career choice. I considered art only at a changing point in my life a few years ago. Colours feature in my paintings as a reflection of my feelings, emotions and inner changes. When I first noticed this I also noticed that I only used certain colours, initially purple and blues only, then one at a time I would find myself drawn to include a new colour. When yellow appeared in my paintings I knew sunshine and happiness were entering my life again. On looking back over all my previous paintings, I saw a diary of my progress. They express a new part of me as my life evolved that was reflected in each picture I had painted. I have worked with several mediums over time, with oils dominating the previous couple of years. I am exploring acrylic at present which allows me to see results more quickly. My paintings often reflect my feelings and I enjoy feeling the energy of painting as it evolves. I am usually drawn or inspired to paint something in particular, which provides me with motivation and the feeling of being fully involved with my painting. My art is primarily paintings at present, which included what I class as normal art and has been said to be styalised realism, spiritual art of an inspirational nature and fun paintings that are simple but colourful. When people see my paintings I would like them to get a sense of energy they convey as well as appreciating the visual aspects of the painting itself.
