Alisha spent most of her life in Ormondville before coming to Napier and Mosaic Creative Space, where she discovered her talent for art.

“I like to paint the things I see around me, especially animals and nature”. Growing up in a small country community surrounded by farms and animals has strongly influenced the subjects she choses for her art work. “Art for me is a type of therapy, a way of making myself feel like I'm good at something. Helps me to get over my down days”.

Alisha creates meticulous art works by building up precise layers of paint and colour to form her images. The brush strokes create form, bringing a feeling of aliveness to her work. This ability extends to other genre such as bonecarving and printmaking where attention to detail becomes an important part of the work. “The more I do the better I get. I just want to feel good about it”.
