Real People @ Mosaic student, Mary Vaughan had a work of art of hers sold in a Forest and Bird auction at Government House in Wellington. Mary found an advertisement in a Forest and Bird magazine she had received from a fellow resident of Kirkpatrack House, at Duart Elder Care complex in Havelock North.
The “Art for Conservation” auction, hosted by His Excellency the Honourable Anand Satyanand P.C.N.Z.M, the Governor General of New Zealand was held in October by Forest and Bird to raise funds for their Hector's and Maui's dolphins campaign and their efforts of conservation in the South Island's high country.
Having found the advertisement for this, Mary took an interest in it and keenly gained contact with the organisers asking for an entry form. She submitted a painting of a kiwi, a piece of work she had painted with acrylics on board. Mary's artwork, entitled “ Kiwi” was sold at the auction at Government House for $100.00, all the proceeds going to Forest and Bird's cause. |
