There is going to be a new workshop for Mosiac with a toilet in it and the old workshop will be knocked down for the builders to get in the site. The driveway that Moisac and Rowan uses are going to be used for the builders. There is going to be a lot of noise for Rowan and Mosiac staff and clients. There is going to be a new main building for Rowan because Rowan got flooded twice and its will cost a lot of money to fix up the main building of Rowan.

What Kind of new building is the best for Rowan? The flatmates and staff of Rowan are trying to decide on the 12 bedroom house or 2 six bedroom house at Rowan.

Things for and against the 12 bedroom house.

ForAgainst

Gives the greatest amount of space – rooms can be much bigger

Seen as an institution because of big size

Some people enjoy the the larger client numbers - “its a good atmosphere”

Not normal living: “Real people don't live in the 12 bedroom houses”

Easier to run when it is finished

Less private – you live with 11 other people

New offices for staff are in the plan

Two large toilet / shower rooms per wing, plus 2 shared toilets

Large meeting room / lounge

Things for and against the 6 bedroom house.

For

Against

Most New Zealanders live in ordinary sized houses

Harder to run – more staff and more expensive to run

More private – you only live with five other people

More expensive to build

 Smaller living areas
Double everything means more expensive for less space
New offices for staff are not in the plan
No extra storage room is in the plan
One large toilet / shower room per house, one toilet

The clients at Rowan had a meeting on Wendesday 17th of October to vote on the 12 bedroom house or two 6 bedroom house.

Clients voted at this meeting as follows:

In favour of a 12 bed house: 12 Votes (plus 2 late votes).

In favour of two 6 bed houses: 2 Votes (plus 1 late vote).

This means that Presbyterian Support will be continuing to develop the 12 bed concept.

The meeting went well and clients got our thoughs and ideas across at the meeting. Clients said we wanted to say about the 12 bedroom house and the two 6 bedroom house.
